HI! I ask again my question raised a few days ago. I'm using SuSE 9.0 Professional Edition, KDE 3.1.4 and java2-jre 1.4.2. MOZILLA (v1.4) and OPERA (v7.21) can play perfectly Java Applets, but the KONQUEROR Web Browser cannot open them in spite of the fact that I had configured the proper reaching path. Can anyone send me a suggestion? Best Regards, -Bela-

Using Mozilla, you just need to set a symlink from javadir/jre/bin/java in /mozilladir/plugins/. This will enable java. Normally every browser will find your java sdk or jre if you set a symlink in your /usr/bin. Best Regards, Christian

Mike, Have you checked your settings or Java & Javascript in Konqueror? Just setting the correct paths won't make it right, you also have to set them on in Konq settings>Java & Javascript. That's all you need to do is set the path to the Mozilla plugins and turn on Java, Konq will find and use any plugins that Mozilla uses. Hello Christian and Lee! Thank you for your answers! I do not intend to annoy anybody, but the Java Applets still not run with Konqueror. Every setting mentioned by yours are properly configured (symlink, Java & Java Script settings in Konqueror, the path to the Mozilla plugins)... and Mozilla and Opera play perfectly the Applets... but the Konqueror still not run them. It's visible the outline of the applets and a message that Konqueror is loading the applet, and everything stops here. -Bela-

Have you enabled the "show console" option on the Java & Javascript tab in Konqueror? If Konqueror find the java exe but it then fails you should at least get a console window with some error messages, which might give further clues. /Lennart måndagen den 17 november 2003 14.46 skrev Mike Béla:

Mike, I can't think of a reason that Konq should not do the Java or Javascript if everything is set correctly. I have never ever used a version of Konq that didn't work with javascript or most java things either. Very early on, there were some really heavy Java that might not work, but you have what is sounding like Javascript stuff and that is completely different than Java! One has nothing to do with the other! There has to be a setting you have missed or messed up, but I honestly don't know where to tell you to start looking at this point. Create yourself another user, brand new and try the same spots after checking your settings for Java, Javascript & correct locations of Mozilla plugins. If that fails, then start Konq from a shell and see if you get any reports of problems in the shell. Mike, Did you perchance install 9.0 and copy your old settings from a previous install over? That /home/mikebela/Anfy/Aplet/cfade/canale.jpg permission problem almost indicates something like that. Do as Lennart suggested and check the permissions & owners on that file. Plus the last thing you got was the X Error? That's a bit odd, but maybe your graphics are not setup correctly or you have an Nvidia card. Those things continually give problems. I think the easiest way to track it down though is to create a new user and see if the same thing happens when you log in as that user. Do that and let us know how it works. Hello, Lennart, Lee and the others...! Due to your patience the problem with Java Applets in Konqueror WAS SOLVED at last!!! :) Lee, you must be or a detective or a manlike creature with telepathic faculty or a linux guru... :) All of your suppositions has been proved: 1) During the installation of version 9.0 I had mounted a preexistent partition as /home (I has inherit this partition from my 8.2 system where it had been also my /home folder.) 2) I have indeed an nVidia card. 3) The X Error has no really bearing upon the Java problem. Once again thanks for your support. -Bela- ------------------------------ BandiPat <penguin0601@earthlink.net> irta:
