Addressbook in KDE 3.1

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I cannot solve the following prob: I just updated to KDE 3.1 (from 3.0.5) on my SuSE 8.0 machine. Besides others, I currently try to have my addresses back in KAB. My addressbook-file has been stored in /home/ce/.kde/share/apps/kabaddressbook.kab until the update. Now it seems that in KDE 3.1 the addressbook is stored as /home/ce/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf But when I call the addressbook, my further entries from KDE 3.0.5 haven't been imported, and I cannot find any possibility to do the import manually, whether directly in kab nor in the control center. Is there any hint how I can convert or merge the old file to the new one? best regards ce -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE+PAVFwl5BpgWy4BMRApSPAJ93z+Mt4f7oykFfYp9CLMsU2lXn/ACfURH7 14Yq/pqFn4bi0cSULEONvso= =QHEY -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Are you sure you were using kabaddressbook.kab for storage. From memory this format only applies to KDE 2.2 kab formats. The format used in KDE 3.0 was the .vcf format. You should be able to import the old .kab format using File ---> Import ---> "Import kde 2 Address Book" from kab. I suggest you backup your current copy of std.vcf before proceding with the import, just in case. -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------

I knew that it will be so simple. You're right, of course, the correct file is the vCard file. Many thanks for that tipp. The reason why I didn't realize this is, that I used to completely remove (by renaming :) ) my ~/.kde-folder to make kde to initialize all configs so no app would crash due to an old config file. So, KDE 3.1 had noch chance to find the address book.
