[opensuse-kde] Konqueror does not want to open kmz files
Hi, I've a problem with konqueror, the app does not automatically use Google Earth when I click on a link that refers to a kmz file. The details of my problem: Let's start what is working: - if a file on disk is a .kmz file konqueror opens the file with Google Earth. (this is e.g. a kmz file that was downloaded from the internet and stored in /tmp) - If I right click on a link on a webpage refering to a .kmz file, the context menu contains a reference to Google Earth. When using that reference GE opens the link. What's not working: - Clicking on a link refering to a kmz file. E.g. on this page: http://www.kmzlinks.com/?offset=1&group= Click Now konqueror offers me: 'save as', 'open with' and cancel. Or when I right click on the link, the context menu offers me to open the link with e.g. kate, kwrite, OO.org writer, and other editors, but no GE :( Why is that? I've *kmz files associated with Google Earth.... For example in $HOME/.local/share/mime/application/vnd.google-earth.kmz.xml .kde4/share> cat ./mimelnk/application/vnd.google-earth.kmz.desktop [Desktop Entry] # Installed by xdg-mime from googleearth-mimetypes.xml Type=MimeType MimeType=application/vnd.google-earth.kmz Icon=application-vnd.google-earth.kmz Comment=Keyhole Markup Language archive Patterns=*.kmz; In /usr/share/applications/ there is ./googleearth.desktop The last files that are kmz related I know are located in: /usr/share/mime # find | grep google ./packages/googleearth-mimetypes.xml ./application/vnd.google-earth.kmz.xml ./application/vnd.google-earth.kml+xml.xml Shouldn't this be sufficient for konqueror to open kmz files automatically? At firefox offers to open the links with GE, konqueror should be able to do that too, isn't it??? -- Richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Why is that?
When trying e.g. "wget 'http://www.kmzlinks.com/redirect.asp?id=97&file=Atomium%2Ekmz'", according to the the server claims the mimetype of the file is application/octet-stream .

I expect somebody must have already complained about this "bug", so I suggest searching http://bugs.kde.org if there's a request for a workaround. -- Lubos Lunak openSUSE Boosters team, KDE developer l.lunak@suse.cz , l.lunak@kde.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
