[opensuse-kde] KDE SC 4.11 problem in AMD GPU?
Hi list, I have problem when updating KDE to 4.11 from 4.10 in my Lenovo X120e with AMD Radeon HD 6310, I cannot login in kdm. I check the /var/log/kdm.log and there is a line mention that ktimezoned initialize( ) D-Bus call failed Is there any problem in D-Bus? I still can login to terminal though. I downgrade it to KDE 4.10 and I can login again using kdm. Is it a known issue? Anybody with the same problem? My other PC using nvidia has no problem at all. Any suggestion? thanks in advance -- medwinz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

my PC has an AMD 6870 with proprietary 13.8 beta drivers and KDE 4.11 is working there - what drivers are you using? Nico

Check also the new repository for the 13.8-beta1 driver just published yesterday http://lizards.opensuse.org/?p=9757 -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot

I'm using open source driver, never use the proprietary driver in this laptop, everything works well before. alchemist:/etc/X11 # lsmod | grep radeon radeon 890821 3 ttm 92724 1 radeon drm_kms_helper 52909 1 radeon drm 310707 5 radeon,ttm,drm_kms_helper i2c_algo_bit 13413 1 radeon alchemist:/etc/X11 # uname -ar Linux alchemist.site 3.10.6-1.gbd99dce-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Aug 12 06:07:06 UTC 2013 (bd99dce) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux alchemist:/etc/X11 # zypper se fglrx Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... No packages found. alchemist:/etc/X11 # dmesg | grep fglrx alchemist:/etc/X11 Anyway I will check if proprietary driver can help. Then if the free open drivers has always worked, I would stick with it. Due to the fact it's more easy to debug what could happen. -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Yes I stick with Radeon. I try the fglrx but I think Radeon works better in my laptop. I found the cause finally. During the update process, Soprano, libsoprano and soprano-backend-virtouso from KDR 4.10 was not deleted. So there are two versions of those softwares, from KDR 4.10 and KDR 4.11. So I check it manually from yast and delete the KDR 4.10 version. I don't know why this happened because I use "zypper dup --from KDR" and believe all the software will be updated. Now I'm a happy KDE user. thanks, -- medwinz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
