I have been extending the kde main menu, but this requires that the main menu (/etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu) is being edited. I don't like this too much, as this will be undone by next kde update. I wonder is there a custom hook available in kde's main menu to extend it? The reason to extend the main menu, is to list inhouse (say a school, city hall, a company (that could even be suse)) maintained systems, or inhouse developed applications, etc. I extended the file with /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu with: <MergeFile>custom.menu</MergeFile> which is more than sufficient to support the above described wish.
