[opensuse-kde] pyside in openSUSE:Factory
Pyside (a set of lgpl Qt4 python bindings originally developed by Qt and hosted by Qt today) seems to be much more mature and stable than it was not too long ago. With the switch to a simpler build system (pyside only depends on shiboken now), I think it would be good to offer it in the next openSUSE release. How does everyone feel about it be pushed to factory (and probably included in the libqt4 aggregator for KDF)? -Todd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Aside from offering bindings for people to use, are there worthwhile existing apps using them that shipping PySide would buy us? Otherwise I'm skeptical of the benefit of just adding more stuff to Factory because it's neat. We're already overstretched as a team, so things that are simply nice to have can IMO stay in KDE:Extra. I know matplotlib and spyder both support pyside. I am not sure there are any apps currently requiring PySide, since it is designed to be mostly compatible with PyQt4, so anyone developing a PySide application gets PyQt4 support more or less for free. However, PySide has a more permissive license, which some people might prefer, and it is more closely tied to the Qt development community. -Todd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
