After 3.1 upgrade problems
After upgrading to 3.1 I get the following errors: On xconsole I get kdm_config[974]: unrecoqnized section mane [Desktop 0] at /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc:1 When starting KsCd I get error-KsCD Unable to create directory /opt/kde3/share/apps/kscd/cddb Check Permissions If I click ok on this and then click start on KsCD window tunes play fine. On booting after logging in to kde I receive a box with Sound Server Fatal Error: /tmp/mcop-dbtrol is not owned by user. Any ideas on these. TIA David

When starting KsCd I get error-KsCD Unable to create directory /opt/kde3/share/apps/kscd/cddb Check Permissions If I click ok on this and then click start on KsCD window tunes play fine.
My solution to this was to change the Kscd configuration to use /var/cache/cddb which is where cddb data was already being stored before the 3.1 upgrade.

Look in the file, search for Desktop. What is under it? Do you think it is being used. If not remove that part of configuration file (just back up the file before just in case...)
When starting KsCd I get error-KsCD Unable to create directory /opt/kde3/share/apps/kscd/cddb
Make the directory yourself (as root): - mkdir /opt/kde3/share/apps/kscd/cddb - chgrp users /opt/kde3/share/apps/kscd/cddb
Check Permissions If I click ok on this and then click start on KsCD window tunes play fine.
On booting after logging in to kde I receive a box with Sound Server Fatal Error:

Really basic question: Is removal necessary? Can't you just "comment it out" with "#" and get the same result? /kevin
I just found what looks like a bug to me: i switched off the "unread column" and "total columns" under the "view" menu in kmail 1.5 (with kde 3.1), and they go away as expected. I switched them on again and they do not reappear. I try switching them on and off with no result, the columns would not come back. I give up and start reading my mail, and when i resize the lateral window, the columns come back! Am i missing something or this is not how the whole thing is supposed to work? fred
If you drag the dividing bar (between the folders and the message listing) to the right then the headers will reappear. I think it is due to the way you have your lay out of KMail set up Jim On Friday 07 February 2003 22:29, Federico Damonte wrote:
