[opensuse-kde] icons and activities in 4.6
Hello, At the end of last week I decided to try Activities (a feature that was marketed for KDE 4.6). I could then assign an specific icon to each activity. I liked it and decided to use it seriously. During the last days I updated to the newest KDE 4.6 in OBS (First KDF, later R:46, with the same result) and I lost the ability to assign custom icons the different activities. Only the default sphere like icons are shown with the option to change this. Does anyone know what has happened? Am I the only one and is it a fault with my system, or do others have the same problem? It seems to work fine for me. -Todd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Is your (System Settings | Desktop Search) Nepomuk enabled? Activities are a semantic concept, used for describing the environment a user is in so applications or the workspace can adapt to that. If Nepomuk is disabled, you get a simplified version. Strigi / desktop indexing doesn't need to be enabled for that. I'm on my development box right now, and can't test that, but please let me know if that does indeed affect the icon problem you're describing. Cheers,
Enabling nepomuk did the trick. I deactivated it a couple of days ago, because I did not know what use it had for me. Now I know :) Thanks, Cor -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I'm working on removing and simplifying the Nepomuk/Strigi/Akonadi/Phonon text across the desktop to alleviate confusion like this.
