[opensuse-kde] Plasmashell troubleshooting
Hi everyone, I installed tumbleweed last week fresh ( with a new homedir). Unfortunately plasmashell has issues currently. Its regularly freezing and need to be killed and restarted. My Guess is that its caused by an inhouse Qt Application around our CRM Tool. Because also copying something to clipboard from this application causes plasmashell to freeze fro 30 to 60 seconds. The rest of the desktop still works though (krunner, ALT+TAB , Windows etc) Where can I start troubleshooting this issue ( logfiles etc. ) to find clue what exactly is causing it? -- Stefan Kunze -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

If you are up to date with TW, it is a regression in Xorg 1.19. It is fixed in 1.19.1, currently in the submission queue. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: A29D259B

Hi Luca and stakanov, thank you very much for the Info. Waiting for the Update then. As the problem with copy from the Application to clipboard is a bit older I suspect it will be there after teh x.org fix as well. Any Ideas how to go on troubleshooting this problem then? Hi, did you look at the factory list? There is a problem with the current snapshot causing multiple freezes with system. For convenience I report here a post of Luca Beltrame in factory. If you intend to use tumbleweed on a stable basis I would highly recommend subscribing to the the factory mailing-list.

Hi
Panel hanging then desktop hanging, sometimes hangs on login, akonadi doesn't always start... Ctrl Backspace Backspace is your friend at the moment
As stated in the other thread (not only for you, but all those who follow up): the freeze only occurs with DRI2 and is caused by an Xorg bug: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99333
It doesn't occur on all systems (on my TW install at work, always; here at home, never).
It has been already fixed, and packages are in the queue for TW, so it will arrive sooner or later.
As a workaround, you may want to try enabling DRI3 (beware, that may cause other issues) for your driver.
