I did the same yesterday and, no, the smb protocol handling still ins't correct in Konqueror. In fact, since the update to 3.3 this never has been working quite right for me. Looking for an alternative for handling on my KDE box Windows shares from other networked workstations, I found smb4k which does a great job. It discovers Windows domains and workgroups, lists the shares, lets you mount a share by one click and it's just another click to open a mounted share in Konqueror.
