[opensuse-kde] Can't set default webbrowser in plasma5 to anything other than opera or konqueror
Hi guys. I just upgraded from KDE$ to plasma5 an I'm havinf a weird little issue: I can't set the default webbrowser to anything other than konqueror or opera. What I mean is, I go to the systemsettings app, the page with the default applications, and i pick webbrowser. When I leave it on the first option that autodetects the content type and opens the proper app, I get konqueror whenever I click on a link in kmail or choqok. When I choose the second option and use opera from the "app tree", it works, but when I use chromium or firefox and click a link in a KDE or plasma app, nothing happens at all, also no error message in ~/.xsession-errors at all. Any hints for me? Cheers MH There are 2 systemsettings programs i.e. Systemsettings and systemsettings5, make sure you are using the correct one

I've set it in _both_ to firefox now, didn't help. Cheers MH -- gpg key fingerprint: 5F64 4C92 9B77 DE37 D184 C5F9 B013 44E7 27BD 763C -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

"Obviously", check that the programs, the startup shell if appropriate as I recall for firefox, are on your $PATH next up, check for the desktop files. -- for the ones that do work and the ones that don't. I have only one firefox in my $PATH and only one firefox.desktop in my system, and clicking on the firefox menuentry in the KDE / plasma5 start menu works just fine, just klicking on links in plasma apps does not... since I switched from KDE4 to plasma5, before that everything worked just fine... -- gpg key fingerprint: 5F64 4C92 9B77 DE37 D184 C5F9 B013 44E7 27BD 763C -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

If I remember months ago the issue was raised, that this systemsettings part doesn't work as expected. But if you go to Files Associations, and search html, https, http you will have the list of programs associated with. Just bring your favorite on top of the list. Few day ago I found qgis trying to open all of them with a no sucess :-) -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch Bareos Partner, openSUSE Member, fsfe fellowship GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Now I've actually replaced kontact with kontact5 (including all the actual apps like kmail and such), now it's even more weird: When I click on a link in an email I get TWO firefox windows, one empty one and one with TWO tabs with the page that I wanted to open... 0.o Poltergeist?
