Cheers MH There are 2 systemsettings programs i.e. Systemsettings and systemsettings5, make sure you are using the correct one

"Obviously", check that the programs, the startup shell if appropriate as I recall for firefox, are on your $PATH next up, check for the desktop files. -- for the ones that do work and the ones that don't. If I remember months ago the issue was raised, that this systemsettings part doesn't work as expected. But if you go to Files Associations, and search html, https, http you will have the list of programs associated with. Just bring your favorite on top of the list.
