I noticed this too. You need to reconfigure the toolbar and replace the delete button with the move to trash button. See ya -- dh Don't shop at GoogleGear.com!

Hmmm, have you looked in the options of your incoming mail (pop3, imap, etc) account yet? There you can specify one folder as trash bin. The workaround above is not so good, because most people use the <del> key for deleting mail. Daniel

That's not a bug, it is a feature! Cut from Help -> KMail Introduction: "Some of the new features in this release of KMail include (compared to KMail 1.4, which is part of KDE 3.0): IMPORTANT CHANGE: The 'Delete' Action now irrevocably deletes messages. Use 'Move to Trash' to put messages into the trashcan." However, 'D' seems still to mean 'Move to Trash'. -- Ch

There should be two icons in your menu bar above. One for Deleting and the other for moving to trash. I have click on trash and now am typing you from the trash. And when I click Delete it will delete that mail instantly. If you trash, normally it should stay until you empty it and naturally deleting will immediately remove it from the email client. So just hit trash if you want to trash ;-) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The most valueable Treasure you have, lay within you. Thanks Thomas Look in Settings->Configure Shortcuts and see what the action for the Del key. In my configuration Del do "Move message To Trash" and Shift+Del do "Delete message". -- Jose Thadeu Cavalcante

Could be a neat way to move stuff to the trash for looking at later.. make the delay to automatically read messages a little longer than it takes to select and delete puts it in the trash. ra
