Has anyone found a fix for the kweather problem in 9.3? I tried rebooting, and got a partial fix. Some stations work, but wouldn't you know my local stations show they are down for maintenance. However, when I boot to my 9.1 install those same stations are working fine. Any suggestions? Tks, Jim Flanagan linuxjim at jjfiii dot com

Yes. See the replies given by Richard Atcheson and me a week and a half ago in the topic thread with the Subject: heading "kweather" initiated by Chuck Holland.

Yeah, I saw that Randall, but I was hoping for a fix from Suse / KDE instead of you having to fix it for them. I'm not up on scripts at all. Don't know where to start. Do you run this script only once, or do you have to use it to start kweather? TIA -- Jim Flanagan linuxjim at jjfiii dot com -- Jim Flanagan linuxjim at jjfiii dot com

You should realize that these lists are not official feedback channels. There are SuSE personnel who read them as their time and interests dictate, but nothing written here has the status of an official bug report or change or improvement request.

I use it in place of directly executing kweather. I have a few pre-programmed desktop icons that launch kweather for the reporting stations I care about. I mention it there instead of kweather itself. Richard mentioned a config file. That may be a better way of fixing the problem and it's apparently the one chosen by the OP in that thread.

I do realize these lists are not official, and all the personal effort this group puts into this list. This is what linux, and in particular, this list is all about. This group carries that torch very well. I for one appreciate it. My comment about a fix from higher parties was based in the hope that there would be a fix to what seems to me to be a bug.

I'll try the config file method. I'm always amazed at how you guys find fixes to this stuff, and how quickly you do it. Thanks for the heads up. -- Jim Flanagan linuxjim at jjfiii.co

Hello, I'm surprised by these problems with kweather. With SuSE 9.3 and kde3-4 it works perfectly. Don't forget that kweather is an applet for Kicker. So if you att this applet to kicker you'll ba able to configurate kweather, add your favorite stations which will be recorded in the kweatherrc config file. Once you've donr that, you can delete the applet in kicker and launch "kweatherservice" at boot (for instance with a link in the Autostart folder) and you'll be able to see the weather at each station while typing "kweatherreport 'code of the station' " or better by clicking on a link to this command. Good luck. Michel.
