No screensavers anymore after update to KDE 3.4.2
HI! After updating my Suse 9.2 from KDE 3.4.1 to 3.4.2, one of the users (only this one) has an empty list of screensavers. It still works OK for other users! I tried to rename .kde with no positive effect. Out of the blue, I restored a Suse 9.0 user directory from that user and started with that and the screensavers where there again! Then, with the 9.2 user directory, they were there, too. After working for a few days, the list of screensavers is empty again for that user. What can that be? Thanks! Thomas

Ther eis an additional screensavers package I thing its kdeartwork3-kscreensaver or perhaps kdeartwork3-xscreensaver I don't remeber which way round. Install both and your screensavers will be back again. kdeartwork3-xscreensaver is installed. I tried installing kdeartwork3-kscreensaver in addition with no effect. And the thing is, only one user is affected. Thomas

I don't know, but as a start, have a look at $HOME/.xsession-errors and see if you get any error messages that might give us a clue about what's going on

I don't think they are Try running kcmshell screensaver from a konsole window. If it comes up without any screensavers, close it and run strace -f -F -o kcmshell.strace kcmshell screensaver and either send me the file kcmshell.strace, or post it online somewhere where it can be accessed. It should tell us what's happening

Anders, I just updated some KDE files that I noticed were in the */supplemental dir. for 9.3. I DO have gl screesavers, but NOT the rest....best I can tell. The "test" option won't give me a test image at all. Something did get messed up with the update. Oh yes.......kcmshell screensaver DOES work here, giving me the correct window. HI, I had some problems after update to KDE 3.4.1 on SuSE 9.2 with the OpenGL Screensavers, too. It runs as prewiew but crashes on running. I posted in this list but no answer. I decided to upgrade tu SuSE 9.3 and now all work fine :-) Bye, Stefano Anders Johansson ha scritto:
