[opensuse-kde] 4.11 beta 1 out - adjustments to packages
Hello, KDE has released the 4.11 beta 1 version of dev platform, workspaces and applications, and that means that there will be some changes in the packages, following the trend from last release. To be to the point: - KDF will now start tracking the 4.11 betas and Rcs -> use this for testing the packaging and for reporting bugs upstream; - KR410 will be decoupled from KDF (adjustments of links, etc.), meaning that there is the possibility of breakage in the next few hours. I suggest you put off updating from KR410 for now, we'll try to announce when the situation is stabilized; - KUSC will keep on having snapshots. If you test the 4.11 packages, report bugs in the *packaging* (or openSUSE- specific functionality) to Novell's bugzilla, and bugs in the *software* to bugs.kde.org. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: 6E1A4E79

Is it a bug or a feature that the latest KScreen is neither packaged nor used in KDF? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Markus, As already indicated before, KScreen has never been released. Git snapshots are not placed in KDF, so therefore KScreen is not packaged in KDF. However I saw that the developers are working on a 1.0 version for KScreen, so hopefully within the next few weeks this version would be officially released so that we can include it into the Distro. Where? This mailing list is very inactive. I have absolutely no idea where anything is indicated/discussed these days.

No clue where you got your crazy idea from that no release of KScreen was ever made and only git snapshots exist: https://plus.google.com/u/0/116901758143213967333/posts/4TjjtZU3wCW http://download.kde.org/unstable/kscreen/0.0.92/src/ http://download.kde.org/unstable/libkscreen/0.0.92/src/ KScreen 1.0 is currently at RC1 which is a quite suitable state for Factory (the current SC version in Factory is *beta 1* as you've probably guessed from this thread). But anyway... why question was if the missing package was intended or not. Apparently that was discussed in a private meeting somewhere and no KScreen was a deliberate decision. That answers my question. Markus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

You already asked the same question a while ago and got the same answer. Nothing has changed since then.

Generally speaking we try to avoid betas and RCs of applications (with the exception of the main KDE modules) in KDF. That's what KUP is for, normally.
But anyway... why question was if the missing package was intended or not. Apparently that was discussed in a private meeting somewhere and no KScreen
I don't like assumptions of secrecy when there was no such secrecy. The discussion was in the open, on IRC (#opensuse-kde) after your first request months ago, and this is where the decision came from. Hardly anything "private". -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: 6E1A4E79

No reply ever entered my inbox and http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-kde/2013-05/msg00038.html shows no reply to my mail.

Discussing a mail "in the open" without even notifying anybody when and where the discussion takes place is an interesting definition of open but anyway: that was not my question. For a change my question regarding was finally answered through a medium I access, so thank you. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Markus, kscreen integration could only start now, as until few days ago, we where utilizing the same specs in KDF for updating 12.3 distribution, and required changes are way too intrusive to be pushed as an update. Since 4.10.80, we have now separated KR410 repo, and more drastic adjustments can now take place in kdf also. So it is not just the state of only-today-reached 1.0 milestone, but also other (rather crucial ones) packages needed to be taken into consideration. You can now find (lib)kscreen packages in our devel repo. Cheers, Hrvoje

No announcement yet, but it has been tagged 1.0 yesterday... Herbert -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
