[opensuse-kde] kaffeine missing a dependency to vlc?
One of the latest updates made kaffeine throw this error: core libvlc error: No plugins found! Check your VLC installation. I've looked and vlc wasn't installed (only the core library), so I went and did a manual install of vlc, which pulled in about a dozen more packages. If kaffeine now requires more than the core libraries to even start, shouldn't some of these packages be required? Yes, of course. The question is just which one. I suppose vlc-noX should be sufficient, could you maybe verify that? Thanks. Kind Regards, Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

As I said, I just installed vlc and that pulled in a lot of other packages related to vlc. I don't know if vlc-noX would pull in the plugins that were apparently missing. It's worth a try, I'd think. Yes, vlc pulls in the whole VLC "application". But I'm pretty sure (according to my experience) that there will be some people complaining that they get an additional VLC entry in the application menu even though they only installed kaffeine. I merely tried to ask you to check if vlc-noX would be enough. ;) But I have done so myself meanwhile. I uninstalled vlc, vlc-gnome, and vlc-qt, kaffeine still starts and plays DVB and video files I tried (of course you may have to have vlc-codecs installed, depending on the file/stream). I'll submit an update with the added dependency. Thanks for reporting this, btw! Such things are sometimes hard to notice, because one tends to have the requirements installed already anyway...
