[opensuse-kde] digikam 1.3 problem - QT4 sqlite - KDE Backport repository - opensuse 11.2
A little report for the KDE Backport maintainers System: opensuse 11.2 64bit, all updates, standard repositories plus Packman und Backport. Last week the backport repository offered an update from digikam 1.2 to 1.3. An installation brought the follwing error message: -------------------------------- Run-time QT4 SQlite and MySQL database plugin is not available - please install it. Database plugins installed on your computer are listed below: - QSQLITE - ----------------------- Yast shows that 64bit plugins are present, 32bit plugins not so. As the the system performed with version 1.2 without problems, I suppose that some dependencies are not solved within the 1.3 package. Returning to 1.2 was not possible, it has been removed from Backport. So I downgraded to digicam 0.10, no problems there. cu Peter -- Um die Liste abzubestellen, schicken Sie eine Mail an: opensuse-de+unsubscribe@opensuse.org Um eine Liste aller verfuegbaren Kommandos zu bekommen, schicken Sie eine Mail an: opensuse-de+help@opensuse.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Yes, I get the same result with an rpm query. A couple of libqt(s) are already installed. But shouldn't yast not install any required library if the repositories are properly updated? A couple? There are only two required that I see. Be sure both are installed.

You would think so :^) zypper would. IIUC, digikam has some qt3 routines. -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

and
rpm -q digikam

For this output I enabled Backport again and installed digikam 1.3.0-41. Error message"database plugin is not available". Yesterday I also tried the Factory repository after disabling Backport. It suggested a lot of other changes, I went with it. Unfortunatelly it changed the KDE GUI to something I didn't like, and digikam still didn't work, so I threw out Factory and Backport, . I ran zypper dup and got back to digikam 0.10, which worked, but the kipi modules in digikam are not shown anymore, even though they are installed. What about libqt4-sql-mysql?

Before you change repos you should inform yourself about their content otherwise you might brake your system. http://en.opensuse.org/KDE_repositories Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

The whole thing worked with digikam 1.2 from Backport. If nothing else helps I will try mysql, but I hope that the next update will set it right.

Sorry, I should have been more precise. I did not have Backport or Factory active or their packages on my computer at the same time. Throwing out in this case means (examle Backport): - deactivating repository Backport - in runlevel 2 zypper dup, this clears the majority of packages. - in runlevel 5 KDE GUI and with yast removing all remaining packages which either cannot be downgraded or identified belonging to a known repository. There are usually only a few lonely ones left after zypper dup. I love yast !! You are right, but you know: Never change (much) a running system. I will give libqt4-sql-mysql a try next week. Peter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
