I noticed that the desktop folder plasma widget is no longer shown by default in the beta.

Is there a reason for that decision, as we from the artwork team especially designed the wallpaper to leave space for the widget in the top left position.

Besides that I think showing the desktop folder is useful, as it contains links to interesting docs and applications.

cenuij pointed out on irc that desktop folder is in the "desktop icons" activity, but the "Desktop" activity is displayed by default.

So could we perhaps switch the default view back to show 'desktop icons' again? Sounds good to me.

Will also address the issue whereby the install option was not immediately apparent after booting the KDE live flavour.
