When I try to view the contents of a share using Konqueror, I get an error that a path is not found. The path is shows is missing the first character of the last name for example smb:/compname/documents/omedocuments, while the folder is called somedocuments. I'm using SuSE 8.1 and I'm experiencing this on three different pcs. How do I solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

Hi, update to at least samba-2.2.6. You find an SuSE 8.1 rpm at www.samba.org. There is another problem with file names (on shares) containing special characters like german umlauts etc. Look at ~/.smb/smb.conf. If it contains just a WORKGROUP entry or differs in a non-acceptable way from /etc/samba/smb.conf make a link to /etc/samba/smb.conf (or use a copy). Regards, Tim Ruehsen
Thanks a lot, I updated to 2.2.7a and changed both enties (in etc and in my home dir) to point to the correct workgroup. Everything seems to work correctly now. Op maandag 10 maart 2003 09:47, schreef Tim Ruehsen:
