Message #7 in branch and trunk in docmessages/kdesdk/kate_fundamentals.pot reads:
Open the &kde; program menu by clicking on the big <guiicon>K</guiicon> icon on the toolbar at the bottom left of your screen. This will raise a menu. Move your cursor up the menu to the <menuchoice><guimenu>Applications</ guimenu><guisubmenu>Utilities</guisubmenu> <guimenuitem>Advanced Text Editor &kate;</guimenuitem></menuchoice> menu item.
However it should read as:

guimenu><guisubmenu>Utilities</guisubmenu><guisubmenu>Editor</guisubmen
u> <guimenuitem>Advanced Text Editor &kate;</guimenuitem></menuchoice> menu item.
Note the added <guisubmenu>Editor</guisubmenu>
/me has Applications->Utilities->Advanced Text Editor &kate; in trunk + branch compiled from sources, no additional 'Editor'.
I have openSUSE 11.4 RC2 with KDE SC 4.6.0 and I have Editor in between.
Might be openSUSE playing with you, i don't have an Editor in the middle either with Archlinux 4.6.0.
Albert
In fact in trunk it is not in kdesdk but in kdebase-runtime. Any comment? -- fr.gr. Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

This actually is an openSUSE patch, I don't think it has been accepted upstream yet. It will be active in RC2 I think, no idea why it was left out but somebody else already complained. The patch will avoid creating a category if it has only one member item (if there is only kate in Editor, Editor will be left out). If there are two Editors like kate and gedit it will create the subcategory as usual Cheers, Karsten -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I might be missing something, but is this for removing unnecessary subcategories in Kickoff and/or Lancelot? I've mentioned this with Ivan Čukić, Lancelot's creator, and he says it is up to each distro to do this.

The above is about the documentation of kate in Kate's Handbook. I have two other editors visible, kwrite and hexeditor in Editor and two diff programs, so in total 5 programs. So it makes sense to have this submenu. -- fr.gr. Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
