[opensuse-kde] email about polish translations
Hi all, There was an email that came in from an anonymous source with the following statement. Any chance there is some truth to what is said and possibility to change it if there is some truth to it. I would think this is more of a prank as I'm sure there are enough checks and balances on KDE translations. Anyway, ccing Wolfgang as this package would have to be part of Package Hub and would have come from the community package. v/r Doug It came to our attention that KDE Polish "translation" has been sabotaged. Not only it looks unprofessional, but also it looks like someone is ridiculing Poles via these "traslations". It has been pointed out that one person hired by KDE has exclusive rights and Polish KDE community is completely excluded. German hiring a person to ridicule Poles via sabotaging and ridiculing Polish language is unacceptable. Taking into account German behavior toward Poles (Untermenschen) from the past (1939-1945) and gruesome murder of 6 millions of Poles by Germans in their death camps, it is unacceptable that one person hired by KDE is ridiculing Poles via making fun of Polish language, despite a strong opposition from Polish KDE community against such a racist behavior. We hope that Suse is strong enough to take a stand and will not stand by, by continuing providing these ridiculous "traslations". -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Such email, if the accuses exist, should provide examples and precise criticisms. Otherwise my idea is that you can exchange "Polish" with whatever language and the email would have the same content, that is: just a hot air driven accusation. I would not even bother to consider "anonymous" email of this kind, nor give this kind of public marketplace. You want something, you stand up for your rights. Right? And there is a bugzilla. _________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ Ihre E-Mail-Postfächer sicher & zentral an einem Ort. I guess that the anonymous mailer didn't like https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404286 and now spreads their hate against KDE. There is no translator hired by KDE. I won't comment on the rest of their mail. -- Christoph Feck KDE Bug Triaging Team On 03/10/20 10:06, ddemaio wrote:

Thanks all. I thought it was some BS anyway, but wanted to see if you had any insight. v/r Doug -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Political or nationalistic BS spills over into FLOSS' UI strings every so often. We already had removing all instances of [redacted nation] from software for the [redacted], removing all [mythical figure] for the [redacted], removing mentions of [redacted] to please the [redacted] (or the [other-redacted], I can't remember now), and someone protesting the use of the word '[redacted]' in KDE's network architecture almost 20 years ago already. Try to give it as little oxygen as possible and concentrate on real issues that make a difference rather than the ones that motivate jingoistic keyboard warriors.
