[opensuse-kde] Upcoming changes to the KDE:Unstable:Playground
hi, To prepare for the imminent KDE 4.8 release and keep the amount of built packages reasonable, some repositories will be removed from KDE:Unstable:Playground in the next few days. The following repositories are concerned: - KDE_Release_46_openSUSE_11.3 - KDE_Release_46_openSUSE_11.4 - KDE_Release_47_openSUSE_11.3 - openSUSE_11.3_KDE_Distro_Factory - openSUSE_11.3_KDE_Unstable_SC The idea behind this decision: - Unstable programs means higher build dependencies - If you use some legacy repositories, you're probably not interested in unstable programs. If you're using one of these flavors, please disable this repository before the end of this month. Christophe

Are other openSUSE:11.3 repos in the KDE project going to be removed as well, since 11.3 is EOL? -Todd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

I guess we should discuss that. I am in favor of removing 11.3 repos. +1 Let's be good OBS citizens and free up disk space, mirror space & build power for current software. But I suggest putting a date on this and let people know in advance. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

It looks like somebody already did it. -Todd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Seems so, if anyone wants it back we can discuss that I guess :) -- İsmail Dönmez - openSUSE Booster SUSE LINUX Products GmbH Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

personally I will go even further than this... I will remove all the 11.4 builds too... why? because one cannot be in the same time conservative (uses 11.4) and adventurous (by using KUP). keeping builds based on current release and factory shall cover the big majority of users. Nobody prevents the 11.4 people to build their own in their homes. We really need download numbers to figure out how much something is used. For me, it sounds better (looking at resources in the build service) to have it build once in KUP instead of several times in different home directories... We really need download numbers to figure out how much something is used. that would be great, if there is any way to dig them out
For me, it sounds better (looking at resources in the build service) to have it build once in KUP instead of several times in different home directories... I was sarcastic... I doubt that a lot of people who use 11.4 would bother to build all the stuff needed to build stuff in their home... so... we save even more build power and maybe push people to upgrade their distros too... double win

Quick update: the 11.3 repositories are now gone for all projects under KDE:* Only KDE_Release_46_openSUSE_11.4 remains and I forgot to mention the 'openSUSE_11.4' repo to the list which will probably disappear at the same time. Christophe
