8.0 and Shutdown Dialog (Dragon Gone)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 . When I first installed 8, I got the dragon window with several shutdown options. Then suddenly POP, I started getting only the old logoff dialog. And when I drop to login window, there's no shutdown button anymore, even though it's clearly set correctly in KControl|System|Login, and worked for me in 7.3 . I have to go to Console1 to reboot. Anyone else seeing this? Any ideas? -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE80gNBnQ18+PFcZJsRApBuAJwPK8eJCyHjpBlK5XWKshksiEMpOACfT10n rRv2e+Ok6zrkUL+YBhQx4cg= =Ygi4 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Did you do a fresh install or an upgrade?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 . Fresh install. Everything's quite steady, except for a few niggles. Feels good. The dragon dialog disappeared when I was making numerous KControl adjustments, including adding Mosfet's Liquid theme. (it's stunning) Wonder if this had to do with it? Are you still seeing the dragon? Has ne1 else lost it? On Thursday 02 May 2002 22:46, you wrote:

Did you by any chance change some security settings? I had lost this it too (the dragon disappeared and no shutdown button in the logon screen) and got it back after i changed the security settings back to "easy local". HTH. Cheers, Marcel

Yes indeed, I had changed filesystem to "Secure", but when I found I could not make GUI settings stick I set it back to "Easy"peasy. But no dragons. Is this definitely correlated do you think? -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE80so7nQ18+PFcZJsRAhshAJ9fnZVPRuo/6xj8jaN+d3581r19mgCdGq4d PVyfJG36lJb4UsQlj7WGj2U= =iTi4 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

I think so, but i'm not sure. at the time i lost the dragon and the shutdown button i had been playing with a lot of settings (was my first logon after initial install, you know: lots to configure). Changing back to "easy" security settings and shutdown behaviour back to "local" resolved this problem. But If you can't get this back it could be a bug. Otherwise it's a feature ;-) Anyway, try playing around with these settings. I would try it for you but haven't got the time right now. cheers, Marcel
