I'm going to check bugs.kde.org and submit a bug report. I'd advise to report it against Solid, as it seems it doesn't read vendor value. i.e. you'll see it's also missing with solid-hardware details /org/freedesktop/UDisks2/drives/$your_drive where $your_drive can be found with solid-hardware list
Cheers, Hrvoje

Actually, UDisks2 seems to be guilty. It reports nothing under Vendor... (Solid reads info from UDisks2, and kinfocenter gets info from Solid)

Failure to show values for 'Vendor' is already shown in udisks2-2.0.0-5.8.1 from OSS 12.3, see output of "udisksctl dump", nothing new, just old failures showing up. e.g. [code-snip] /org/freedesktop/UDisks2/drives/Slimtype_DVD_A__DS8A3S_908080245738: org.freedesktop.UDisks2.Drive: Configuration: {} ConnectionBus: Ejectable: true Id: Slimtype-DVD-A--DS8A3S-908080245738 Media: MediaAvailable: false MediaChangeDetected: true MediaCompatibility: optical_cd optical_cd_r optical_cd_rw optical_dvd optical_dvd_plus_r optical_dvd_plus_r_dl optical_dvd_plus_rw optical_dvd_r optical_dvd_ram optical_dvd_rw optical_mrw optical_mrw_w MediaRemovable: true Model: Slimtype DVD A DS8A3S Optical: false OpticalBlank: false OpticalNumAudioTracks: 0 OpticalNumDataTracks: 0 OpticalNumSessions: 0 OpticalNumTracks: 0 Removable: true Revision: HA26 RotationRate: -1 Seat: seat0 Serial: 908080245738 Size: 0 SortKey: 00coldplug/11removable/sr0 TimeDetected: 1403392184771399 TimeMediaDetected: 0 Vendor: WWN: [/code-snip] - Yamaban

Is KInfocenter pulling this data via UDisks2?
KInfocenter pulls from Solid, which in turn pulls from UDisks2 via dbus calls. If UDisks2 does not have correct values for 'Vendor', Solid in turn can not give values for 'Vendor' to KInfocenter. Here, the root of the problem (missing values) is in UDisks2, because if you go to even deeper layers, udev knows the values. [Shrugs] I can live with it, but there are cases where this presents more than 'just' a cosmetic issue. - Yamaban.

- Yamaban. I agree. There more pressing issues.
