[opensuse-kde] Dutch translations of KDE hardly used in openSUSE Tumbleweed
On my Tumbleweed system where I use a KDE desktop only a small number of messages are shown in Dutch. All of the common used KDE packages are translated in Dutch, so I would expect hardly any English messages on the Desktop. For instance the context menu of the desktop shows: Run Command Alt+Space Activities Alt+D, Alt+A Widges ontgrendelen Alt+D, L <= is in Dutch Lock Screen screensaver Leave Ctrl+Alt+Del Desktop instellingen Alt+D, Alt+S <= is in Dutch Is this something I should report upstream? Or is this a bug in openSUSE Tumble weed? -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Make sure that you have the corresponding xxx-lang packages installed (they are only recommended), plasma5-workspace-lang and plasma5-desktop-lang in particular, but also systemsettings5-lang, kwin5-lang and so on. And the frameworks have their own translation packages too, libKF5xxx-lang. And for the KDE applications, you need kde-l10n-nl. If in doubt what you're missing, maybe specify a specific message that's untranslated. I suppose a "zypper inr" (install all recommended packages) should install all of them. For the menu entries, device actions, and service menus, an openSUSE-specific patch is still missing in KF5 that reads those translations from desktop- translations. PS: the particular problem asked here should be fixed since Saturday in KDE:Frameworks5 and in Tumbleweed soon (the fixed package has to go through review/testing first). It was a bug in an openSUSE specific patch in libKF5I18n5. The mentioned patch for reading .desktop files translations from openSUSE's desktop-translations is still missing though.
