Don't start klipper by default. Who really know (newbie POV) what is for ?
Klipper is needed. It doesn't matter do you know what it is for, as without copy-paste will not work, or it doesn't as we are used to that. Uh ! Klipper is the first thing that I kill in new installation since ages and copy&paste still work well.

With klipper you have more advanced features but is a clipboard manager not the cliboard. Klipper keeps copied stuff in memory after the originating application
is closed. Try it: without klipper, copy some text from a kwrite
window and close it. you have just lost the text completely. This is
how X works without a klipboard manager, that's why every linux
desktop comes with one. It is needed.
Of course, some people use its more advanced features - I have a 500
item clipboard history which I use extensively to more quickly move
things from one place to another. Eg when writing a text and moving a
few separate sentences or images, I copy them all, then go to where
they have to go and paste them all. Without Klipper I'd have to do
them one by one...
Anyhow, klipper memory usage isn't very large. Bad is for example the
system tray (over 20 mb). We've also disabled most runners in KRunner,
most services in kded4 and more. I'm trying to create a package which
you can install, a new user will then give you the 'light' config.
Shouldn't take too long. No promises but I think it'll work ;-)
