Vanilla 7.3 installation. Kde loads and then freezes just before desktop icons appear. Mouse is still available. No response from right click on desktop. Panel icons wash out with mouse over but no action when pushed. No response from ctrl-alt-backspace, ctrl-alt-del, or ctrl-alt-f*. Power recycle is the only option. The box is 350 miles away, used by my 83 year old mom, and I am trying to recover her system for her by phone. Any obvious places to begin?
