[opensuse-kde] konqueror and kde4

There are many things being discussed between kde3 and kde4, but one thing I haven't seen talked about yet is konqueror. The most striking - and most surprising - thing about kde4 for me is that in 4.3.1, konqueror is finally a usable browser. It has become an absolutely brilliant web browser, which is for me now a competitor to firefox in all but plugins and extensions. All my previous javascript headaches which kept me from using it on a daily basis seems to have gone now. There are still some issues, but the advances it has made in the recent past are just astonishing. Just thought I'd mention it Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

That's good to hear. Does it work for you also on the sites that are said to be problematic, such as GMail or Facebook (I can't quite tell, I don't use them)? -- Lubos Lunak KDE developer -------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. e-mail: l.lunak@suse.cz , l.lunak@kde.org Lihovarska 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 972 190 00 Prague 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

GMail works despite warning about incompatible browser. Custom theme is not there, but the rest works fine. I could be that Google didn't send all to unsupported browser. Facebook works also. Without complain on unsupported browser. Not to mention YouTube that works fine. Of course I didn't compare screen by screen. -- Regards, Rajko http://news.opensuse.org/category/people-of-opensuse/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I just updated and it does not work properly. It falls back to the HTML view (with a note about the unsupported browser), and even if you trick it into thinking it's Safari it doesn't load the full view normally. Personally this makes it totally unusable for me, as I rely both on the shortcuts, email completion, google chat, and I'm sure a few other things that I would discover.

Facebook chat does not seem to load -- it gives an error about it being an unsupported browser and it doesn't start. There are also random alignment issues around the place with some of the buttons. This is from just using it for about 1 minute... I used to use Konqueror religiously in the past, but it's just not realistically possible for me at all these days... I can think of many other things I'd rather be wasting my time on than discovering that sites in Konqueror don't work and falling back to Firefox. Sorry for the negative report. Which version Konq are you using? I've used it successfully on Google Mail -- although to have to using the ?nobrowsercheck trick. It occasionally stalls, but it works; even the integrated Google Talk. I'm not sure about FaceBook Chat; but most things on FaceBook work find in my Konq. I'm using Konq4 from the KDE4.2/openSUSE_11.1 repositories on the OBS. -- Boyd Stephen Smith Jr. ,= ,-_-. =. bss@iguanasuicide.net ((_/)o o(\_)) ICQ: 514984 YM/AIM: DaTwinkDaddy `-'(. .)`-' http://iguanasuicide.net/ \_/
