Maybe i understand some things wrong, but: Adding the nessesary options to Dolphin. (if this is going to be the main filemanager for KDE4), is a point what might cost time to implement them, i donot know if it belongs here? -- Enjoy your time around, Oddball (Now or never...) I don't know how that is arranged also.. Does that have to go via the KDE Bug tracking system, via enhancements? Or does someone from you have a direct line, which is ofcourse quicker? -- Enjoy your time around, Oddball (Now or never...) KDE 4.0 is under feature freeze, except for plasma. Therefore any new features you'd request for Dolphin upstream, would prolly not make openSUSE 11.0 anyway - first they'd need to be written, then backported etc. But could be useful later on in KDE 4.1 of course. If you have suggestions for enhancing Dolphin which don't require an obscene amount of work, such as adding some service menus or some tweaks or something like that, you could suggest that here. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Yes that is exactly what i had in mind, some 'missing' services, like: Bookmarks, History, Pack/Unpack, Move/copy to *any* directory. Possibility to add directories to 'places'.(now one can only remove, but this might be a bug, not sure?, because with another user standard locations from within the LAN were automaticly added, after visited them.. nice feature, if you ask me..) With the options already implemented, these would cover the most used actions.. -- Enjoy your time around, Oddball (Now or never...) Konqueror does still exist and provides those features :) Greetings, Dirk -- RPMLINT information under http://en.opensuse.org/Packaging/RpmLint --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Greetings, Dirk
Konquror has 'no memory' atm. And i hate to start every session with a 'new' app. I like intuitive apps, especialy filemanagers. They adapt to my needs, perfect. They do not, i donot use them. But what were you actualy trying to say? That i have to use konqueror? Why there is dolphin than? -- Enjoy your time around, Oddball (Now or never...) Which means? It crashes? Perhaps that should be fixed ? :)

So you're saying that you like the intuitiveness of dolphin, but miss the features you mentioned? Okay, that makes more sense then. I just didn't see how "history" matched in the requirements of a file browser so far.
But what were you actualy trying to say? That i have to use konqueror?
That you can use konqueror.
Why there is dolphin than?
The long term goal is to make Konqueror become really good as a browsing shell, and Dolphin as a management shell (files and documents). However, both is possible with either application, after all they're just using the same code anyway. We're not trying to repeat the "one size fits all" mistake we did before, therefore there are two applications. -- RPMLINT information under http://en.opensuse.org/Packaging/RpmLint --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

No, it does not crash, but allways starts like this: -- Enjoy your time around, Oddball (Now or never...) Besturingssysteem: Linux 2.6.24.1-6-default x86_64 Current user: oddball@AMD64x2-sfn1 System: openSUSE 11.0 (x86_64) Alpha2 KDE: 4.0.2 (KDE 4.0.2) "release 8.1"

Ah, i did not know you did not use a file manager before, sorry. History means that places typed in the locationbar, stil are there when restart, so you don't have to type them over and over again. But ofcourse, i can always use krusader...

I enjoy using dolphin very much, yes, and with these few things asked, which belong in a file manager, as these are useualy right-mouse-service-menu-options, one uses to move or copy files to a picked location, or pack them to save space, or to send them over a network, in a smaller way, or unpack them because you can not use them packed. History is also most convenient when one 'has to go this instant', the filemanager knows where 'one' left off... Anyway, i am not asking for them, to ask something, but because they are 'missing' when i need them. But when these options are not going to be implemented, i just have to use krusader instead of dolphin, np. -- Enjoy your time around, Oddball (Now or never...) Excellent. If you now write that into a enhancement request against dolphin on bugs.kde.org, I'm pretty sure the author might consider to implement those suggestions :) Greetings, Dirk -- RPMLINT information under http://en.opensuse.org/Packaging/RpmLint --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
