[opensuse-kde] KDE 3.5.7, kopete
Zwerg-Berater

Sounds like a local issue. At least my ICQ account still works well after updating. Could you guys please post in English? Contrary to what you (seem to) believe, people outside Germany also use KDE ;-) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

strange. I can not add approx 50% ot the differenz protocols with the same error message "could not load protokol x". starting kopete from konsole doesn't help, there is not a single error message while starting or running kopete!
I use (3x)jabber, m$n and icq without problems. One thing that's always worth a try when apps start acting up is (temorarily) renaming or moving the settings and data in ~/.kde/share/apps/ + ~/.kde/share/config respectively - then kopete will start up as new. Or to simply create another user and see if the problem is "systemwide" or specific to the one user and therefore most likely caused by some unfortunate settings. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

hmmm :-( I get the same errors with AIM, ICQ, MSN, WinPopo and Yahoo (error loading module)

I tried that already
Or to simply create another user and see if the problem is "systemwide" or specific to the one user and therefore most likely caused by some unfortunate settings.
I tried that additionally and it makes no difference. Are there more settings or is kopete dependend from some (new?) packages (I dont have not resolved package dependencies). what can I describe more? I see 6 empty, gray icons below Freunde (buddies in english), but only to icons, no names/ text, the tooltip is empty, doubleclick results in "user is not reachable, please use a protocol supporting offline.... or try until user is online again" If i delete the whole config the 6 users are away too (like a totally new installation), the wizard starts and i can not add any of the mentioned protocols. what to do? Thanks Christian Lorch

No, it's not.

That means that the protocol for those contacts is not loaded - they are, in Kopete's perspective, empty. Do you have any KDE 4 packages installed? (i.e. kde packages from KDE:KDE4 in the build service, that start with kde and don't have a 3 in the rpm name). Try rpm -V kdenetwork3-InstantMessenger. Try downgrading your KDE rpms back to the 10.2 defaults. There is no package from KDE4 installed (checked it with rpm right at the moment) kdenetwork3-InstantMessenger-3.5.7-5.1 is currently installed.
Try rpm -V kdenetwork3-InstantMessenger.
clorch@noname:~> rpm -V kdenetwork3-InstantMessenger ..5..... /opt/kde3/lib/kde3/kopete_webpresence.so ..5..... /opt/kde3/lib/kde3/kopete_wp.la ..5..... /opt/kde3/lib/kde3/kopete_wp.so ..5..... /opt/kde3/lib/kde3/kopete_yahoo.la ..5..... /opt/kde3/lib/libkopete.so.1.0.0 ..5..... /opt/kde3/lib/libkopete_msn_shared.la ..5..... /opt/kde3/lib/libkopete_msn_shared.so.0.0.0 ..5..... /opt/kde3/lib/libkopete_oscar.la ..5..... /opt/kde3/lib/libkopete_oscar.so.2.0.0 Am I missing the so/la-files for icq?
Try downgrading your KDE rpms back to the 10.2 defaults.
and stay with the old KDE 3.5.5 (dont know what was the original KDE-version) or can I update directly after downgrading? Or do you mean to force the downgrade of (only) the kdenetwork3-InstantMessaging.rpm? Thanks Christian -- Christian Lorch :: der nett.Zwerg-Berater just visit :: http://salocke.xto.de :: just married

That's your problem - all of these files are changed. Try removing the package, make sure that those files are gone, then reinstall it. Very interesting option -V, didnt know it before! I dont know why the files are changed (or may be didnt get updated), but with your help kopete works again (i just told yast to reinstall the package). Thank you Christian short german summary for those like me :-) Kopete hat nicht mehr funktioniert, aus irgendeinem Grund waren div. Dateien nicht die, die sie eigentlich sein sollen, das kdenetwork-IM-rpm zu aktualisieren hat geholfen (also einfach noch mal installieren oder sonst deinstallieren und wieder installieren)
