I've been updating a lot of packages with yast. I have no new problems, but I'm looking for some information about upcoming solutions to old, continuing ones. After launching any part of yast that has anything to do with package management, I have to wait around five minutes before I can do something (which is sometimes to change one small thing). I once saw it suggested that yast be changed to use rdiff or something to only collect the changes in the repository rather than downloading the entire list. Has anyone using 11.1 alpha or Factory noticed any change? Also, I set over a hundred packages to update from one repository and while I was doing it, they must have updated the packages, because now those hundred- plus packages are no longer found on that server. Okay, it happens. But over one hundred times, I had to press the space bar to get rid of one error box, then hit alt+S to skip the package. Each time. Again, has anyone noticed any better handling of situations like this in any newer version of yast? I'm just curious. I'm still using 10.3 and don't know if it'd be worth it to install 11.0 with 11.1 coming out, but then, I don't know if it's worth waiting for 11.1. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Many people upgrade to opensuse 11.0 just to get new package management and there is many positive references on the web about that. -- Regards, Rajko --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

The software management performance has been improved very significantly, if it bothers you, upgrading to 11.0 (or 11.1 Alpha/Beta snapshots) is a solution for you. -- Regards, Jiri Srain YaST Team Leader --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. e-mail: jsrain@suse.cz Lihovarska 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 959 190 00 Praha 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz
