[opensuse-kde] Can't start KDE4 in second session as another user

Can't start KDE4 in second session as another user. It bail out with: "Call to lnusertemp failed (temporary directories full?). Check your installation." The /tmp/ is far from being full. Though I found and corrected one ownership problem in /tmp/kde-<user1> where user2 was owner. Removed .kde4 and it was created again, but the problem persists. -- Regards, Rajko. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Check using your packaging tool of choice that _all_ your kde4 packages are the same version. This is caused by a library mismatch making kde4-config (the call prior to lnusertemp in startkde) to fail. I am not sure how the libraries ended up mismatched. List criteria is 'kde*4' and search mode is 'Use Wild Cards'. I have found kde4-core 3.93.0.svn712047-6 and kdelibs4 3.95.2-1.5 and didn't search further. "Update all in the list if newer version is available" created problem with kdebase4 3.96.0-2.3 (now 3.95.2-2.5) and kdebase4-runtime 3.96.0-2.3 (now 3.95.2-4.3). When I changed status to keep present versions, dependency problem disappeared. Accept. --- Error Download failed: File ./noarch/kdegames4-carddecks-default-3.95.2-7.1.noarch.rpm not found on media ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE:/KDE4/openSUSE_10.3 Retry failed. Skip continued with installation. --- kde4-filesystem is broken, integrity check has failed. Skip continued with installation. --- Again the same after some downloads. --- kstars4 same version as above and same repo --- kdegames4 and/or libs on gwdg.de --- It didn't happened before to have errors when downloading. Just check: "Could not start kdeinit4. Check your installation." Removed ftp.gwdg.de as KDE source, and set to download.opensuse.org. Removed Education repository, it was needed for XaraLX vector graphic program only. Back to sw_single with same search criteria and "Update all in this list if newer version is avaliable". Some 400 MB download. Good news, now all is going to 3.96.0. Bad news "Could not start kdeinit4. Check your installation." Deleted directory .kde4 in another user home. Nothing new :-( Install kdm4. Same. Well I'm halfway in the business. Some applications don't need kde4 desktop to run. For instance okular is set as default pdf reader if browser is Mozilla, the Kpdf is responsible for Konqueror. Kstars4 starts and seems to work. Kalzium4 starts. Kmahjong4 starts. Knode4 crashes when starting. Konqueror4, just jumping cursor. I will not try Kmail4 ;-) -- Regards, Rajko. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Wait for the 3.96.1 packages to pop out of the buildservice's steaming gateway. The OSBS is currently blocked though, but I would hope it will get them done sometime soon.

Known packaging bug. Will -- Desktop Engineer KDE Team --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I was about to post current status when your mail arrived. I just visited #kde and 'annma' gave me a tip that error found when manually starting kde4 from VT: kdeinit4: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkio.so.5: undefined symbol: _ZN6Strigi14AnalysisResultC1ERKSslRNS_11IndexWriterERNS_14StreamAnalyzerES2_ is because of obsolete 'stigi'. Somehow it didn't show up in search results for kde*4 nor it was pulled in as dependency. The same problem were qt4 libraries, but that was solved searching for all files with any 4 in the name (*4*). So, now I'm in the business :-D -- Regards, Rajko. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
