if the problem is to communicate with the Exchange Server, the solution for your problem could be Ximian Evolution with the Ximian Connector:
http://ximian.com/products/evolution/
"Ximian™ Connector is a unique extension to the Ximian Evolution, corporate and personal information management software that allowes Linux and UNIX to collaborate with co-workers using Microsoft Exchange 2000. With Ximian Connector installed, Ximian Evolution functions as an Exchange 2000 client, enabling users to become full participants in company-wide group scheduling and other collaborative tasks, including accessing public folders and Global Address Lists, personal email, calendar, and task lists, and group scheduling information." -> http://ximian.com/products/connector/
I believe that our IT department claims that the server setup that Ximian Connector requires needs Windows 2000. Our Exchange server is on Win NT. Besides, I'm the guy who unilaterally went over to Linux and took my mail-reader function with me. The company is not about to pay for Ximian stuff, just so I can get back. I'm not about to pay, either. :-) /kevin

I have used several IMAP clients to talk to Exchange server, if it is setup for IMAP. I believe that the default includes IMAP, but I won't swear to that. IMAP works well with KMail also, so you could use KMail to copy the email messages from its local folders to the Exchange folders using IMAP and then everything should be there for Outlook. I'm sorry that you must use Outlook. The only feature that I miss from it is the scheduling. I would love to have a good open source scheduling server for home with Linux and Windows clients. I have thought about working on one, but with everything else I am invovled in right now, programming at home is a low priority. -- Kelly L. Fulks Home Account
