Wow Carl, You and Steven are beginning to sound like Dennis Powell (dep) in his commentary! Oh, that's not a good thing if you were wondering. ;o) Simple solution to your problems is either get some good hardware or another distro. It is never too difficult to remedy such weaping, whining & wailing! Good luck on your quest! Patrick ========================== On Tuesday 28 May 2002 11:39, Carl wrote:

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 . I expected this sort of reception. On the same hardware as with Suse7.3, I installed 8 from scratch. I've used Suse since 7.1 . Notice I wasn't "weaping (sic), whining & wailing (sic)". I noted the problems specifically, and without hyperbole. In objective terms, I can't get actual work done with 8, whereas I could with 7.3 . Reasons/issues/problems are far less important than that central fact. I run a mortgage investment banking firm on Suse, and I just don't fscking have time to be bit-twiddling. Hello Carl, no problems here with five machines, two for production! Suse 8.0, all Sorts of patches or not. kde 3.0, 3.01 nvidia Geforce2 various mainboards.... VMware running on one machine with W2000 in it and testing a Oracle database in it! No Problems with stability, usability, the only one is that the VMware and kernel 2.4.18 together have problems with main memory more than 850 MB. I reduced this with boot options and am waiting for a patch on which SuSE and VMware ar working. Other things are well Best regards gg
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 . I just got a report that a full reinstall has solved most problems for one person. I remember seeing this 'globally-busted' phenomenon with Mandrake, and a reinstall did the trick. Have others seen this as well? On Monday 27 May 2002 22:42, Carl wrote:
