[opensuse-kde] KDE4 konsole really great.

Hello,
I want to express my thanks for the way konsole xterm works in KDE4. I
really like the way it works. It keeps settings(colors appearance and
such) imediately. The only issue I have not been able to find is how to
have 2 default settings. 90% of my settings are one way, So I can open
my 12-14 icons with it. The problem is the other 2 I open have different
sizes and appearences. When I set them up these settings mess with the
ones I want as default. I have been unable to find a way to exempt the 2
windows that I want different without effecting the default settings.
So I guess what I am asking is how do I setup this so I can have my
defaults for any of my main xterm's but only change but not save the ones
for the other 2. I sometimes need either one. In KDE3 I have my default
saved as needed for my 12-14 windows and change the other 2 after opening.
This does not effect the default. Is this possible with KDE4.
Thanks I am really liking the new KDE 4. Not the best on my old
computers, but on the newer ones it is fantastic. Great Work.

I use this to automagically open an mc session in xterm when I plug in a compact flash card in my reader which opens in the two locations I wish.
Thanks, I should have looked at my .x.. where I auto start X application.
I do it for other things not xterm. Thanks.

Hello,
I have been unable to find a way to exempt the 2 windows that I want different without effecting the default settings.
There are a couple of options. The first is that you can edit
multiple profiles at once. So you could create two profiles - one for
your default settings (for the first 12 tabs) and one for the other
two tabs. When you want to edit a default settings, select both
profiles in the list and click 'Edit Profile'. Any changes will be
applied to all of the selected profiles.
The other option if you want to customise settings for a specific tab
is to use the command-line 'konsoleprofile' tool. This can be used to
change the settings for the current tab using:
konsoleprofile settings=value
eg:
konsoleprofile colors=BlackOnWhite
konsoleprofile font=monospace,12
This works with all of the settings for a tab. The setting names and
values are stored in the same format as your .profile files stored in
$HOME/.kde/share/apps/konsole
You can put these commands in a script somewhere and run those to
change the terminal setup.
Regards,
Robert.
