Can't do anything with JPEG's after upgrade from KDE 3.0.2
I recently upgraded KDE 3.0.1 that came with the SuSE 8.0 distribution. The upgrade path included installing RPM's for 3.0.2 earlier this month and then 3.0.3 late last week. I had no problems with the 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 transition. Everything seemed to work just fine. However, after upgrading from 3.0.2 to 3.0.3, everything works fine except I can no longer apply JPEG's to my desktop background, display JPEG's in the preview portion of the file dialog box, or open JPEG's with the Kpaint or Kview. Sounds like KDE isn't aware of the JPEG libraries in some way. Is there anyone that is experiencing this problem? Anybody know what to look for? Jerry
This has been a common topic since 3.0.3 came out. There has been an update to QT 3.0.5 to correct a path problem or you can do it yourself. As yourself just open an xterm at type qtconfig. This will bring up a GUI management tool that you can make sure that KDE is seeing all the paths. The 4th tab from the left says "Library Paths" .. click that and make sure that /usr/lib/qt-3.0.5/plugins is listed.. This should fix your issue. :) * netzener@netscape.net (netzener@netscape.net) [020826 17:07]: ::I recently upgraded KDE 3.0.1 that came with the SuSE 8.0 distribution. ::The upgrade path included installing RPM's for 3.0.2 earlier this month ::and then 3.0.3 late last week.
