[opensuse-kde] Inconsistent set of Unstable KDE repositories for Tumbleweed
I am trying to install the unstable KDE repositories, but trying to do a "zypper dup" on the repository http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/ Qt56/openSUSE_Factory/ results in removing almost all KDE applications. Trying to update i.e. akonadi_resources results in a lot of changes to a lower architecture. Trying to dup Applications shows one missing module: libQt5Core.so.5. It looks like the package libQt5Core is missing; libQt5Core-devel is available. Also libQt5Core5 is available. Bug report? -- fr.gr. I guess that it would be hard to almost impossible to just dup one repository, while the whole unstable parts consists out of at least three repositories (Qt56, Unstable:Frameworks and Unstable:Applications). Best would be to dup separately for each repository in that order and ignore any errors that pop up. With the last update things should be ok again.

This is not a bug .) The libQt5Core5 package contains the libQt5Core.so.5 file. The naming of the package is based on the packaging guidelines for shared libraires. I started doing "zypper dup", so on all repositories, and that went well. After that I tried "zypper up", but this results in removing packages I do not want to be removed. So I tried what I described earlier.

The package libQt5Core5 is installed, so why is there a complaint libQt5Core.so.5 is not available. It is installed from the Main Repository. Trying to install it from KDE:Qt56 results in massive amount of messages about architecture change to i586.

I was too hasty. It is better, but finally there were 4 packages that needed to change architecture to i586; akonadi-server, libKF5AkonadiAgentBase5, libKF5AkonadiCore5 and libKF5AkonadiWidgets5. But in the end I could not start kontact. It shows an unresolved variable. If you're on TW and using all the KDE:Unstable repositories, all packages should be built (last time I checked). Can you post the output zypper lr --uri? -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team GPG key ID: A29D259B

Ok, the URIs look correct. Would you mind trying to do the following: 1. zypper dup --from <Qt57 repo> 2. zypper dup --from <KF5 repo> 3. zypper dup --from <Applications repo> That's how I generally set things up with new installs (I just redid my main machine 2 weeks ago). -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team GPG key ID: A29D259B

Btw, it's also possible to do that in one step: zypper dup --from <Qt57 repo> --from <KF5 repo> --from <Applications repo> Should prevent missing/broken dependencies... I tried the first command. It complains about a number of 32bit architecture x86_64 packages with problem: libdouble-conversion.so.1 needed by libQt5Core5-32bit-5.7.0-42.1.x86_64 I choose to keep the obsolete package. The result was that 109 packages should be removed and 51 updated. So finally I canceled the command. So the problem seems to be the package libdouble-conversion1 for which there is no new module in Qt 5.7. It is only available in the Main Repository. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Do you really neeed libQt5Core5-32bit? Maybe accept the uninstallation, or remove it before trying to do the update. But yes, libdouble-conversion1 is available in the standard repos, though there doesn't seem to be a -32bit package. In other words, this may be worth a bug report against double-conversion (not maintained by the KDE team). I waited some time tried again and earlier problems disappeared and new popped up. Currently I have quite a lot of applications from the Unstable repository installed. There are no 32bit packages needed anymore. However most of the lang packages of applications had to be uninstalled. All in all using the Unstable KDE repositories is not a trivial thing to do. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Well, there's a reason why they are called "Unstable"... Regarding the lang packages: The unstable packages pull the sources directly from upstream git. KDE maintains the translations separately though (there are no translations in the git repos), they are only merged with the sources when a release is made. So there are no translations for the unstable packages. And the lang packages do require the exact same version of the corresponding application, so that's why you cannot keep the stable ones installed (unless you break the dependencies).
