Dear All I've been trying to compile some programs for which there are no rpms available yet. These include gwenview, kopete but have also included lyx. After I run ./configure I always get something like the following at the end of the configure output: checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.0) (library qt-mt) not found. Please check your installation! For more details about this problem, look at the end of config.log. Make sure that you have compiled Qt with thread support! I have the KDE 3.1.4 and the latest version of Qt and all running on SuSE 8.1. I've tried giving various options to configure such as --with-qt-dir=/usr/lib/qt3 and the ones telling it where the libraries etc are but I still get the above message. Am I missing something? I'd be greatful of any ideas as to how to solve this. best wishes John -- Dr J. John, My first guess would be that you don't have the -devel files installed these programs need to compile. Go into YaST2 and search for anything -devel and see how many you are missing. I've been having the same trouble as John (diferent programs, same error, SuSE8.1, xfree86 4.2.0, KDE3.1.4, kernel and qt sources installed), just checked for (qt) -devel packages and all are up to date (3.2.3-0, but The doc packages are not installed as they are older (If I remember right they probably conflicted w/ the newer qt)) I do still have the older 2.3.2 libraries and devel packages installed as well, should those be removed? I assumed they were for compatability. I look forward to getting this solved, thanks for your help. - -- dh Don't shop at ZipZoomFly.com (GoogleGear.com!) -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.1 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFABrzpBwgxlylUsJARAvdWAJ41EG2lzlkNmwOPiZoy+Jdu1LGotwCghbvs LRd9wz1z9yCQU1EoYbhps/k= =HYhr -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

David, Go here to see most if not all the needed -devel files you'll need to compile in KDE. As you will notice, many do not have the -devel extension, so it's possible you have missed several. ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_8.1/development -- Good Luck, Lee --- KMail v1.5.94 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.0 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...
