[suse-kde] Compiling kernel 2.6 for AX.25
Hi all, is anyone a "guru" in this list? I have to include AX.25 and Soundmodem into my kernel 2.6 so I readed that I should compile my kernel.. ;-( I have no idea and I don't want to make problems on my laptop that works fine. Do you have some experiences on it? Suggestions? Links? Howto? Many thanks in advance for your kind answer and sorry for my english, I usually speak/write italian! Stefano

... there's a chapter about compiling the kernel in the documentation that came with SuSE. It explains what needs to be done. Be careful, tho! Making a miskake can render your system useless! So backup everything first and verify the backup is ok! Compiling the kernel will require you to know the basics of operating a shell, knowing when something goes terribly wrong and understanding the implications of working as root. You also need to know how to _add_ an entry to your boot menu, stress on "add", not replace! But it should all be in the book, at least it was last time I checked, unless someone ripped out the pages... ;-) -- cul8er Paul paul.foerster@gmx.net
