[opensuse-kde] Konqueror not seeing flashplayer
When I open Konqueror I get the following message:
No plugin found for 'Shockwave Flash file'. Do you want to download one from openSUSE?
I have the flash-player installed in both /usr/lib/Browser-Plugins and /usr/lib64/Browser-Plugins. This worked in 11.4 RC1. My 11.4 is a fresh install with latest update. It works in Firefox, and Seamonkey. I have the adobe flashplayer10_2_p3_64bit_linux_111710.tar.gz version installed. (flashplayer.so) in the above two folders. Don't know if this a flasher player problem or version problem. the version of freshplayer is the same one I used on 11.4 RC1 with no problem, installed same way. My permissions are same as other plugins in the folders (755). Appears to be a problem in Konqueror only. Any help or pointer will be appreciated. Hmm.. wonder if you're using khtml or webkit in konq. For me - using official flash-player packages - flash is not working in konq either with khtml. But when using webkit it works -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Thanks Martin. I'll change it in the morning and see what happens. i'm sure it defaulted to khtml on the install because my bank check displayer now works. i used to have to switch out of webkit to khtml for it to work. I'll post results. Thanks again -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

In KDE3/Konqueror Flash works. Did they break even this? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Please leave polemics and useless implications/allegations out of your statements. It just shows an attitude which is not interested in getting help and useful critique. Flash works for me in konqueror (khtml, KDE 4.6.1). Thanks Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

To the original poster and to Sven: 32bit or 64bit system?? makes a great difference, sadly. I'm using OSS 11.2 64bit + KDE 4.5.5 + 64bit flashplayer ( http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10_square.html ) In Konqueror + khtml flash works fine, but I've also heard from others that they couldn't get the 32bit flash working under 64bit OS, and switched to 64bit flashplayer to get things working. -- HTH, Yamaban out.

In Konqueror + khtml flash works fine, but I've also heard from others that they couldn't get the 32bit flash working under 64bit OS, and switched to 64bit flashplayer to get things working. I was aware of the difference. I download and am using the 64-bit version that worked in 11.4 RC1. It is the latest version I found on The website and i installed after deinstalling the version from the repo.
Just went to above link (same one I used) and version I have is same as downlaod one on link. I'm using KDE 4.6.1 release 390 from openSUSE repo. Kernel is 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop. Correction. I found out that Flash will work with konq+khtml if I simply do: Settings -> Configure Plugins -> Plugins -> Plugins tab -> "Scan for plugins" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
