[opensuse-kde] Nvidia + Plasma = No Memory (KDE 4.11, openSUSE 13.1 )
Hi to all! Recently I've updated to oS 13.1 and KDE 4.11 from OSS:Updates. If proprietary nvidia driver is used plasma-desktop will own about 3 GBytes of memory. If compositing is disabled about 2 GBytes will be own. It doesn't seem to be a memory leak, but just a out-of-box usage. There are no such a problem with opensource nouveau driver (but there are lots of other ones). I've tried G02&G03 drivers packages. My videocard is GTS 250. I can provide any additional info. Could anybody help me please? -- Best regards, Dmitriy DA(P).DarkneSS Perlow @ Linux x64 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Hi, I'm seeing similar things with 12.3, KDE 4.12, and the G03 drivers using a GT9600m (yes, i know, ooooooooooooold). Haven't tried the nouveau drivers. Cheers MH -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Cheers MH FYI
I've noticed that when I change settings in the desktop effects, the desktop effects systemsettings freezes up. My graphics card is the GeForce 8600 GTS. The problem is with the nVidia driver compiled for openSUSE 13.1 (nVidia driver 331.20). So I removed them and downloaded a patch from the nVidia forums and patched the 325.15.run file. I used this driver for Google Earth. After installing it the freeze ups are no longer there. Cheers! Roman -------------------------------------------- openSUSE -- Get it! Discover it!
