Re: [opensuse-kde] Partial screen lockups occurring on my laptop
Hello Marc. I doubt your bug is Nvidia related. I have a Lenovo X201 Notebook without any nvidia parts and I do experience the same issue. Screen looks up random, applications open are still usable and you can shift between them with alt+tab, it is possible to start new applications with alt+F2. But, the taskmanager does not show any cpu consuming application and non of the running apps seems to have a problem. Occurs here iwith firefox, kaffeine or others, regardless. What is on here: KDE 4.5.10 release 1 form the repos and standard installl. If you wait long enough you may experience that the screen will "unlock" and then you will notice that all the clicks tried out will be executed as if it would be a "replay" function of actions. Apparently the desktop is blocked by a specific process but does receive the actions of the guy, it is just not able to execute them. The problem with me happened after the install of a precise package. That is, for what I recall, the dbus update "to prepare the update path for 13.1" Well after this one, togehter with the I think "rkit" called packages installed that day, I began to experience all these "lockups" of the desktop. Previously all went perfectly. Maybe you find some indications about what goes wrong with these hints. I did not see any log or error message, neither in the x-server log nor in other logs. Cheers and good luck. --- Alle Postfächer an einem Ort. Jetzt wechseln und E-Mail-Adresse mitnehmen! http://email.freenet.de/basic/Informationen

I really doubt the issue, however manifested, is due to that particular update, as the "prepare the update path ..." update only adds one file, without any influence on runtime - it is just indicator of what should newer dbus package (from 13.1) do on install... So, probably a co-incidence that you noticed the issue since then.
