[opensuse-kde] Kmail Distribution/Contacts problems
openSUSE 11.2 KDE 4.4.1 ; KMail 1.13.1 ; Contact 4.4.1 I created a Personal Address book with two sub folders under it, using the Contact 4.4.1 program. After reboot, I went to Kmail --> Composer --> Select --> address book and the Personal address book is not an option to select. What I'm trying to do is create the equivalent of a distribution list since I do not see any method to create one. I do see a Save Distribution List under tools. Does this mean I have to select all 100+ plus names that the email goes to and then Save it as a distribution list? How do i get the personal address book to show up under Select? A pointer to a how to or a readme would help. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

When you create a new address book, it does not seem to be used immediately, but needs to be added as a resource for KDE. Personal Settings (Advanced Tab) -> KDE Resources Then select "Contacts" from the dropdown box and add the address books you created. You need to point to the right directory and you probably want to give the new resource a more meaningful name than the default. After that you need to may to restart KMail or even KDE (I just had to restart Kontact) and your address books should be available. Hope that helps. -- Don -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Hope that helps. Thanks. I try it in the morning. Getting tired tonight. I'll post my results. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Still not working as I expect, maybe miss understanding on my part. I created a Personal Address book with 5 sub folders, Moved contacts around to the correct folders, then went to Desktop Config - KDE resources and selected the Personal address book with Akonadi address books, selected Personal Contacts , selected contacts and OK. Logged out and back in. Went to KMail -- New Message -- To and clicked on Select. Personal Address book is there, but no sub folders, all contacts from the sub folders are in one list. Do I need to Select each sub folder separately? Thanks. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I think so, yes. Try it and see. -- Don -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I think so, yes. Try it and see. Will post as soon as I can. Took disk hit today and lost some folders under Documents. Lucky I had a fairly recent backup and only had to rebuild part of 4 files. Now to run smaertmon and see if I can locate problem. Will post result of above suggestion after disk tests.
I was beginning to suspect that. I also noticed when I make change in contact information in say one of the personal addressbook subfolders it does not get passed back to the default addressbook or other places that contact is. In the older contact methods, if I changed one location, all the others reflected that change.
