Re: [opensuse-kde] 4.3.80 and alt-tab

Hi,
After installing the 4.3.80 packages for 11.2 (x86_64) from UNSTABLE, all of a sudden alt-tab doesn't work to switch windows anymore. Both alt and tab work by themselves (alt-f4 e.g. will close a window, and tab switches input focus inside a window), but the window switcher seems to have taken a vacation.
I have tried the Flip and the Cover switcher, and I checked that they really are set to use alt-tab. I don't immediately see anything in the global shortcut list that could steal it. It worked with 4.3.77
Has anyone else seen this?
Yes, this is currently broken.

I have the same problem with KDE 4.3.82. Is there already a solution or a workaround? Regards, Andreas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Doing 'kwin --replace' in krunner or a terminal is a per-session workaround that I've been using. Matt -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
That's a problem caused by Qt 4.6. I have it with KDE 4.3. A normal 'kwin --replace' does only work for me, when I had another window manager used before. (eg. 'metacity --replace' first end then 'kwin --replace') -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I don't think thats necessary, and it is not a Qt 4.6 issue.the problem is that kwin is started before kded, however, kded is needed to register the alt- tab keyboard shortcut. this needs a fix upstream. Actually, I had a look at it and this doesn't seem to be the case, so it's still unsure what the problem is. -- Lubos Lunak openSUSE Boosters team, KDE developer l.lunak@suse.cz , l.lunak@kde.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I heard that this is actually a Qt problem which has now been fixed. The latest built Qt snapshots seem to fix this problem. -- Matt Williams http://milliams.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
