Jethro, sorry to bother you, but if you have time could you clue me in on how to actually get those icons to reappear in kde once you know where they are? Best Fergus
I wish there was a better way but you have to go into the kedit menu (which has been moved and is now accessed from K->Settings->Control Center -> Desktop -> Panels -> Menus -> Edit Kmenu) and then click on each entry missing an icon in the menu tree on the left hand side of the screen. Then for each one you have to click on the grey square icon box on the right hand side of the screen. This will bring up another window in which you select 'Other Icons' and then browse. Then you have to browse your way to the file you want and select it. This is a real chore for each missing icon. This happens everytime when updating KDE. I'm not one to gripe at SuSE normally but I think that as a service they could at least get this sorted in the SuSE KDE rpms. Jethro

I would definately agree. I wish there was someway of linking in the Gnome Icons. Even with the normal SuSE distributions they always miss the Gnome apps. Now with Gnome split into two, you spend a huge amount of time getting the Icons setup. The other area of annoyance is setting up the mime associations. -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for the heads up from everyone on the difference between KDE's and SuSE's rpms. FYI a standard for adding items to menus in both Gnome and KDE is being hammered out and the KDE crew are already well on the way to a first implementation.

Yeah. Still I *like* my KDE desktop. You would have to tear it from my cold dead fingers before I give it up for a windows one. Jethro

I went to my regular suse ftp site this morning and didn't see rpm's for 3.1. I did find kde3.1 rpm's @ kde.org but if I recall SuSE has stated (in the past) that these are not their official releases. -- dh Don't shop at GoogleGear.com!
