5.7.0 needs to pass openQA first. And tests failed, due to an upstream bug[1]. A possible workaround is being investigated. [1] https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=365606 -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team GPG key ID: A29D259B

If thats the case, whats the difference between plasmashell and plasma? According to Kinfocentre, it says i have KDE Plasma Version 5.7.1 and according to kf5-config, it says i have plasmashell 5.7.1 -- Qt: 5.6.1 KDE Frameworks: 5.24.0 kf5-config: 1.0 plasmashell 5.7.1 Kernel: 4.6.3-1-default "openSUSE Tumbleweed (20160710) (x86_64)" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

plasmashell is simply the name of the executable. Thanks... So does that mean kinfocentre and kf5-config are reporting different things but just happen to have the same version ?

KInfocenter takes the Plasma version from the xsession file (/usr/share/xsessions/plasma5.desktop), which is "guaranteed" to have the same version as Plasma (since it is part of Plasma). kf5-config does not report any Plasma/plasmashell version at all though: $ kf5-config -v Qt: 5.6.1 KDE Frameworks: 5.24.0 kf5-config: 1.0 $ You probably run "plasmashell -v" to get the output "plasmashell 5.7.1"... ;-) Kind Regards, Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks, i'll adjust my signature script to get the plasma version from there

I get that bug 365606 needs to be resolved first but why does 5.7.1 depend on 5.7.0 passing? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Because 5.7.0 is still under review. If we submit 5.7.1. now, we'd have to restart the process from the beginning. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team GPG key ID: A29D259B

I'm a little confused here, i've got 5.7.1 (see below for my versions), am i misreading something? -- Qt: 5.6.1 KDE Frameworks: 5.24.0 kf5-config: 1.0 KDE Plasma: 5.7.1 Kernel: 4.6.3-1-default "openSUSE Tumbleweed (20160712) (x86_64)" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Yes. You apparently use KDE:Frameworks5, the devel project for Factory/Tumbleweed. This does have 5.7.0 (and 5.7.1) since its release. The problem is getting those packages from there into the main Tumbleweed repo, which has to go through review and testing/openQA. Well, it's only a "cure" for something insofar as that you get updates sooner from there, before they get tested and submitted to Tumbleweed. But exactöy this also means that things can break, although we of course try our best to prevent that. And it is of course the only possibility to get the latest versions for stable distributions like 13.2 or Leap. In Tumbleweed you will get the exact same in the main repo, just some time later. Yep, i'm sure that was the case and everything has been pretty stable since then so i'm happy to stick with my set up as it is now.
