[opensuse-kde] KDE 4.4.0 1-click install still seems to point at 4.3.98
I may just be impatient, but if you follow the 1-click install link from the KDE 4.4 page at kde-org, you get a 4.3.98 install, not the 4.4 packages. If I am just being impatient, forgive me, if not, am I right, or is my YaST setup broken? I don't think anything is broken. It just takes longer than usual for Build Service to build it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

That's OK - I *am* impatient. It's perfectly fine to tell me to shut up & wait :-) P. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

4.4 final releas is today: http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KDE4/4.4_Release_Schedule 4.3.98 is 4.4 RC2, so you have 4.4 but not yet final. the opensuse team will need some time to build it against the system. Daniel

Daniel, I know that, now that Markus replied. However, the KDE.org site is already showing that 4.4 is available via 1 click install, which is currently not true. This is also true of the Open SuSE site at http://en.opensuse.org/KDE/Upgrade It looks like there is a timing problem, because 2 places show 4.4 as available, when it isn't. However, it's a minor problem. 4.3.98 was very good (great job all!), and I was looking forward to 4.4. The primary problem is that it took a longer time to build final 4.4.0 packages due to last-minute fixes and high OBS load at the time, but there is also a terminology misunderstanding. KDE has already released KDE SC 4.4.0, but only source, and the 1-click install at kde.org was prepared in the anticipation that the OBS will finish the building the binary packages in time. However those 1-click installs point to the KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop repository, which contains 4.4.x, and it has been called 4.4.x as soon as the stable 4.3.x release got branched. When means that even 4.4 beta1, AKA 4.3.80, is usually refered to as 4.4.x, while current development KDE version 4.4.63 is already called 4.5.x.

The OBS is still under quite heavy load (it seems openSUSE:Factory started a full rebuild yesterday), I estimate the 4.4.0 final packages should be published this evening at the latest. -- Lubos Lunak openSUSE Boosters team, KDE developer l.lunak@suse.cz , l.lunak@kde.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
Just for our information: The first 4.4.0 packages are starting to appear. I expect the full Software Compilation to be build by evening (GMT). Am Dienstag 09 Februar 2010 22:50:20 schrieb Paul Hands:
