Konqueror and Abbey National Business
Hi, Abbey Business won't let me login using Konqueror (which is 3.2.2). Try this site and click on logon: http://www.anbusiness.com/ You get: An error occurred while loading https://www.anbusiness.com/weblogic/FNG/jsp/logon.jsp: Connection to host www.anbusiness.com is broken Funny thing is that the Abbey National domestic customer site DOES work. Can anyone see why they are bomming us out. I have the following java: java version "1.4.2_04" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_04-b05) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_04-b05, mixed mode) Any pointers. In meantime I will use Firefox which seems to work just fine. Berni
I suggest you email them and complain and don't forget to tell them that you will be taking your business to a bank that does support browsers other than ie. Don't forget you will need to follow through if/when you get no response. There are plenty of banks that do support konqueror - maybe not explicitely, but by following the standards. Positive action is the only way to get a reaction. On Tuesday 25 May 2004 18:54, Bernard Elbourn wrote:

Happy to but I am not sure of the problem cause yet. Thing is that that it Abbey Business works with Firefox so I am wondering...perhaps it is a problem with Konqueror? I have also seen discussions about Java in Konquerer. And this would appear to be a Java problem so before I rant I would like to be sure please Thanks, Berni
This is one of the shortcomings of konqueror which prevent kde-konqueror to be widely installed in a productive environment. Two of those bugs I sent already to the bugs-list. The only solution for now is to use firebird. There it is working fine.... Udo Am Mittwoch, 26. Mai 2004 08:23 schrieb Andrew Colvin:

snip I have to agree. BTW: Abbey called me back yesterday with lots of kind advice pointing out that they support Netscape - very helpfull I thought....must remember they have a business to run. Netscape should mean Mozilla and Firefox works. At this stage it looks very bad for KDE. I am going to play with java a bit to see if I can pin this down before logging a fault. Have done some investigation and it does work in mozilla. The src for the pages that I looked at check for netscape and MAC so NS without MAC wouldn't differentiate. Set Konq to identify itself with NS and Mac but only to fail still at the logon page. This page seems to bring up a dialogue box before the page is loaded and another after the page and is a simple framset with other frames (had to load with moziilla to find out. Can't see what is breaking Konq. unless it is the dialogue boxes. The first dialogue might be a redirection but not sure. Andrew On Thursday 27 May 2004 10:16, Bernard Elbourn wrote:
