kde3.1 - konqueror crashes when reading html
Hi all, with most rc's and also with the latest snapshots (post release, on SuSE 8.1) of kde3.1 konqueror runs as file manager, but not as html browser. Whenever I want to open a html page, remote or local, by typing in the url or by clicking on a file, konqeror crashes without an error message. When I installed the rpm's from kde for SuSE 8.1 it worked fine. However because kdm was not so nice with the rpm's and most of all because konsole and kword did not run anymore I did install the latest snapshots of kde3.1 (just libs and base though). Now konsole works, kdm rocks, and I can use konq as filemanager, but not as browser. OK, I can use Opera, which is the best anyway, but it is still annoying. Any ideas? I haven't seen this reported, so may be it is just a local configuration issue. Thanks, Matt

------------------------------- Matt, I haven't seen this problem mentioned either anywhere. I have not had any problems with Konq 3.1 doing html. In fact it's the best it has ever been! The only problem I had with the file manager was as root, it would just drop out, but that was easily fixed with the removal of the /tmp/mcop-root and user directories. Patrick --- KMail v1.5 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...

Thanks, however it must be a different problem. I did remove the tmp/mcop-... stuff already, but no change. As it worked well with the rpm's for suse8.1, but not with the compiled snapshots, I assume it is a configuration set somewhere... Where do I set which html engine konqueror is using, may be that is set wrong? I do not find it. Otherwise, until there is a solution I will have to compile every other day the snapshots, hoping it is fixed, or the original suse rpms which might show up sooner or later on SuSE's ftp will give me konqueror and konsole ... thanks, Matt T.
