[opensuse-kde] KDE 4.2.1 Apps Toolbar (Text frayed-out)
On most KDE 4 (eg Gwenview/KDE4, KSysGuard) applications, the toolbar (toolbar + icons) has the text cut-off (see the image of KSysGuard) attached or at link below [1]). Is there any change in system settings that I need to make ? The fonts that I currently use in KDE 4.2.1 are at link [2]. And am using openSUSE 11.1 as the OS. Does it also happen if you use oxygen or plastique? If not it is a bug in the windeco you use. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

It happens irrespective of the theme used, and for all applications launched that have a toolbar option.

jaymist@linux:~> xdpyinfo | grep -1 resolution dimensions: 1440x900 pixels (373x231 millimeters) resolution: 98x99 dots per inch
373x231 mm => 14.685 x 9.094 inches 1440 x 900 pixels / 14.685 x 9.094 inches = 98.06 x 98.96 @ 98x99 dots/inch Try to add Option "DPI" "98x98" in /etc/xorg.conf Section "Monitor", save it and then restart X. Log out and back log in should be enough. See is that helps. If not change number to 99x99 and repeat save and restart. With first value 98 dpi horizontal resolution is replicated very close to correct, while vertical will be actually 891 px which can affect vertical output of KDE. With second value 99 dpi vertical is close to correct, but horizontal would be 1453, which is more then 1440 and it means that KDE may try to print in invisible part of the screen. It could be also wrong calculated room for text relative to font size. Fonts settings are in KDE control panel (personal settings, system settings) under themes. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
